An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy, purpose-built small animal practice in the Rotherham area of South Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to become a key member of a highly experienced multidisciplinary clinical team, working within an impressive modern practice offering advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities, including CT imaging.

Ideally suited to a Veterinary Surgeon with at least three years' GP experience, the position offers a varied first opinion caseload, excellent opportunities for professional development and the support of colleagues with a broad range of clinical interests and postgraduate qualifications.

The Practice

This impressive purpose-built small animal practice provides a modern and spacious clinical environment with an extensive range of diagnostic, surgical and inpatient facilities.

You'll be joining a talented multidisciplinary team with a wide range of clinical interests. Several members of the team are undertaking postgraduate certificates, creating a collaborative environment where clinical discussion, learning and continuous professional development are actively encouraged.

The practice has been designed to enable comprehensive case work-ups and a diagnostic-led approach to first opinion medicine. Its advanced facilities include a 128-slice CT scanner alongside dedicated ultrasound and dental suites, four operating theatres and extensive inpatient accommodation.

Veterinary Surgeons are encouraged to work closely with the nursing team, including supporting RVNs in undertaking appropriate Schedule 3 procedures. Internal referrals and collaboration with colleagues are actively encouraged where this will help achieve the best clinical outcomes.

Located in the Rotherham area of South Yorkshire, the practice is conveniently positioned for commuting from Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and the surrounding areas.

The Role

This is a varied first opinion Veterinary Surgeon position with responsibility for delivering high standards of clinical care, preventative healthcare and customer service.

You'll undertake consultations, investigations and surgical procedures while following a diagnostic-led approach to medicine and surgery. The role also includes responsibility for inpatient care, appropriate clinical handovers, maintaining accurate clinical records and communicating clearly with clients regarding investigations, treatment plans and follow-up care.

The standard full-time working pattern is four days per week together with a 1 in 4 weekend rota. Each shift includes a 30-minute lunch break and one hour of dedicated administration time. Part-time and alternative full-time working patterns may also be considered by agreement.

You'll work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses and the wider practice team, with internal referrals and clinical collaboration actively encouraged.

There may also be opportunities to become an Official Veterinarian, mentor sponsored veterinary students or support colleagues undertaking their VetGDP where appropriate. The accompanying job description confirms that OV training can be undertaken where required.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, ideally with at least three years' GP experience and a strong all-round background in first opinion medicine and surgery.

You'll be a confident clinician with a firm understanding of diagnostic-led healthcare and the ability to manage consultations, investigations and surgical cases to a high standard.

Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills are essential, together with the ability to remain calm and confident within a busy clinical environment. You'll be a genuine team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and building strong relationships with clients.

The practice is particularly keen to hear from Veterinary Surgeons who are enthusiastic about continued learning and keen to contribute towards maintaining and developing excellent clinical standards.
