Children's Support Worker - EBD & Complex Needs

Location: North London
Job Type: Temporary / Agency
Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour
Shift Patterns: Flexible working hours including days, long days, and waking nights

BS Social Care is currently recruiting experienced Children's Support Workers to work within a residential home supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs in North London. This is an excellent opportunity for compassionate and resilient individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

About the Role

As a Children's Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care, emotional support, and practical assistance to young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that promotes independence, personal development, and positive outcomes.

You will work closely with service users, colleagues, families, and external professionals while always maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing day-to-day support to children and young people within a residential setting
  • Promoting independence, wellbeing, privacy, and dignity
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Supporting educational, recreational, and social activities
  • Assisting with daily living tasks and domestic duties
  • Managing challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner
  • Accurately recording incidents, observations, and support provided
  • Working effectively with managers, colleagues, families, and external agencies
  • Safeguarding and always protecting the welfare of children and young people

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with EBD, autism, learning disabilities, or complex needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to delivering high standards of care
  • Experience working with challenging behaviours is highly desirable

Requirements

  • Recent experience in a care or support work setting
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Good level of spoken and written English
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including waking nights

Available Shifts

  • 8:00am - 8:30pm (Day Shifts)
  • 8:00pm - 8:30am (Waking Night Shifts)
