About the role

Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading aerospace organisation to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer for an initial 6 month contract. There is a pay rate of £40 Per Hour PAYE OR £53.17 Per Hour Umbrella on offer for the successful candidates. The role would initially be full time on site in Wolverhampton until the successful candidate is up to speed and then there would  be a hybrid working arrangement on offer with 3 days a week spent on site in Wolverhampton and 2 days a week working from home.

As the Manufacturing Engineer you will have a range of responsibilities including:

• Manage concessions through to completion by taking ownership and team inclusion across Value Stream stakeholders.
• Provide Technical drawing support for team members and the wider Supply Chain function to ensure correct product is placed with correct vendor.
• Leadership and key involvement in process improvement projects (including cost reduction) within the Supply Chain function.
• Ownership and support on purchase requisition turnback analysis to ensure timely purchase order placement.
• NPI / AFM Cold Start technical support on legacy platforms.
• Provide assistance in BoM (Bill of Materials) validation for new, current and potential bids, highlighting technical and potential risks.
• Flexibility to provide technical guidance on critical items within tight timescales ensuring programme and sales targets are maintained.
• Adopt a programme management approach / methodology to the closure of technical queries, engaging with numerous stakeholders and driving correct accountability.
• Supplier and process development assistance, including (reviewing supplier yield, lead-time, process problems, manufacturing sequences and other potential supply risks).
• Working with and adhering to Collins QMS (Quality Management System) to ensure correct policies and procedures have been followed at all times.

Skills & Experience:

• Project management experience / methodology.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Familiarity of RRCA (Relentless Root Cause Analysis) and problems solving tools.
• Knowledge of around special processes such as plating, heat treatment and NDT.
• Familiarity or a level of understanding with the machining and assembly processes.
• Experience with metrology, gauge R&R process is preferred, but not essential.
• Experience with tool fixtures / work holding is preferred, but not essential.
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate a track record of delivering KPI improvement in an aerospace environment, working either independently or as part of a multi-functional team
• Technical experience in an Aerospace / Automotive industry within the machining, electronics and/or distributed products commodity is preferred.
