Planning Policy Officer

Our client is currently seeking a Planning Policy Officer to join their team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in shaping the local plan which includes a major national development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating and drafting planning policies to guide development and land use
• Commissioning evidence and research to support policy decisions
• Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver the local plan
• Engaging with community groups and the public to gather input and feedback on planning proposals
• Analysing data and trends to inform policy development
• Ensuring compliance with national planning regulations and guidelines
• Preparing and presenting reports to senior management and council members
• Monitoring and reviewing policies to ensure they remain effective and relevant

Job Requirements:

• Strong experience in town planning and planning policy
• Ability to draft clear and effective planning policies
• Skilled in commissioning and interpreting planning evidence
• Excellent analytical and research skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Strong communication and presentation abilities
• Understanding of national planning regulations and guidelines
• Relevant degree in planning or a related discipline
