Targeted Family Help - Parenting Worker

We’re looking for a committed, person to help drive high‑quality parenting practice within our Targeted Family Help/Family Help Service supporting the delivery of a wide variety of parenting programmes including the Family Hub Parenting Stream. If you’re passionate about impactful parenting programmes, evidence‑based support, and building strong multi‑agency partnerships, this is a fantastic opportunity to influence real change.

The successful applicants will, work alongside the ten districts in the city to support the delivery of a wide variety of Parenting programmes across the city. Your goal will be to deliver effective parenting programmes to families across the city, ensuring the best outcomes possible for children and families in Birmingham, you will actively collaborate with partners, schools, community services and the voluntary sector, driving a clear ambition and a shared understanding of the benefits and impact of early identification and prevention for children by delivering a variety of parenting programmes.

We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

  What will I be doing?

• To be trained up in delivering a variety of parenting programmes face to face to families in the family hub or community venues
• Supporting Family Hubs team with rolling out training to family hub partners around the offer for families in parenting and Home Learning Environment and pathways to perinatal support
• Communicating and working in partnership with colleagues from Family Hubs, Birmingham Children’s Trust, Voluntary Sector and wider partners
• To ensure that service delivery achieves the targets and Key Performance Indicators that have been identified in the family hub delivery plan
• Working within a specified area yet operate flexibility in response to the changing demands of the service.
• Supporting the development of effective multi-agency partnership working with key agencies to support children and families to make positive changes.
• Communicate with organisations around the parenting offer for families and support with the training for partners.
• Comprehensively recording all relevant information on the electronic database as required, in accordance with departmental standards.
• Review and evaluate interventions in conjunction with service users, colleagues and other agencies
• To actively participate in any identified training and to contribute to training events as required.
• Promote, adhere to and implement the Children’s Trust’s Policies, including the Policy on Equality of Opportunity within the Team/Section/Division and within the Directorate generally.
• Promote anti -discriminatory practice and equality in service delivery
• To carry out other duties within the spirit, scope and grade of the post.

What do I need?

• Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) and hold an NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a related field of working with children and families
• To have experience of working in a setting relevant to children and families and to be able to deliver effective individual and groupwork programmes
• Have experience of parenting programmes and evidence based programmes.
• The ability to communicate effectively with Children, Young people, and their families and also with professional staff from other agencies and volunteers.
• To be confident to engage with parents and carers regarding the support they receive and able to feed this information back to Parenting Practice Supervisor and wider partners.
