Teaching Assistant - Day-to-Day Supply (Primary Schools)
Are you looking for flexible classroom work across Torbay that fits your schedule while making a real impact? We are seeking adaptable, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to provide day-to-day supply cover and 1:1 support across mainstream primary schools in Torbay and the surrounding local areas (including Paignton, Torquay, and Brixham).
Role & Responsibilities
Provide flexible, 1:1 or small-group support to primary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH).
Adapt classroom activities on the fly to match individual learning styles and capabilities.
Use practical strategies, such as visual schedules and sensory tools, to support emotional regulation and keep pupils engaged.
Help build pupils' confidence, social communication skills, and independence in the classroom.
Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCos, and school staff to maintain a consistent environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Prior experience working with primary-aged children with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs).
A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to managing behaviour and supporting learning.
Strong communication skills to liaise quickly with local school staff.
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply).
Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications, or background experience in care/youth work, are highly valued.
What We Offer
Pay: £92.56 - £95.00 per day (paid weekly via PAYE).
Hours: Standard school hours (approx. 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, term time only).
Flexibility: Complete control over your availability-work as many or as few days a week as you like.
Variety: Gain broad experience across a diverse range of primary schools throughout Torbay and the surrounding areas.
