Location: Civic Centre, Gateshead (Office-based with occasional homeworking)

Hourly Rate: £36.61 per hour

Are you an experienced social care leader looking to shape a brand-new service? Gateshead Council is seeking a dynamic Interim Team Manager to provide key leadership during the establishment of our new Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).

Because this role is pivotal to embedding new processes and building a collaborative culture, you will be primarily based at the Civic Centre, working directly alongside team leadership to set the foundation for safe, effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Assistant Team Manager (Social Work) and Assistant Team Manager (Family Help) to drive high-quality, joint decision-making.

  • Oversee and evaluate incoming contacts and referrals, ensuring timely, safe, and robust outcomes for children and families.

  • Provide strong leadership and direction as a new multi-agency operational system is established and refined.

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding practice in line with statutory guidelines and local thresholds.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within Children's Social Care and safeguarding settings.

  • Deep understanding of MASH framework operations, multi-agency working, and initial contact/referral thresholds.

  • Commitment to being predominantly office-based at the Civic Centre during this critical development phase.

  • Strong decision-making skills under pressure, with a focus on risk management and child welfare.
