Location: Civic Centre, Gateshead (Office-based with occasional homeworking)
Hourly Rate: £36.61 per hour

Are you an experienced social care leader looking to shape a brand-new service? Gateshead Council is seeking a dynamic Interim Team Manager to provide key leadership during the establishment of our new Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
Because this role is pivotal to embedding new processes and building a collaborative culture, you will be primarily based at the Civic Centre, working directly alongside team leadership to set the foundation for safe, effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the Assistant Team Manager (Social Work) and Assistant Team Manager (Family Help) to drive high-quality, joint decision-making.
Oversee and evaluate incoming contacts and referrals, ensuring timely, safe, and robust outcomes for children and families.
Provide strong leadership and direction as a new multi-agency operational system is established and refined.
Maintain high standards of safeguarding practice in line with statutory guidelines and local thresholds.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within Children's Social Care and safeguarding settings.
Deep understanding of MASH framework operations, multi-agency working, and initial contact/referral thresholds.
Commitment to being predominantly office-based at the Civic Centre during this critical development phase.
Strong decision-making skills under pressure, with a focus on risk management and child welfare.
