Job Title: Assessing Specialist
Location: Pickering, On
Duration: 12-month contract
Schedule: Monday–Thursday (4x10s)
Hourly Rate: $70 – $80/hour
Site Support: Not required
Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Assessing Specialist to support nuclear project execution activities in Pickering. This role is well-suited for candidates with strong expertise in OPG procedures, work planning, and inspection/test planning within regulated environments.
This position is highly focused on ITP and work package development, supporting engineering and project execution teams in a structured nuclear setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform OPG AS9 Assessing activities in accordance with site procedures
- Lead and support Workplan preparation, review, and approvals
- Develop detailed Work Packages, including:
- Lift Plans
- FME (Foreign Material Exclusion) Plans
- Confined Space Plans
- Prepare, review, and approve Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Ensure all documentation aligns with OPG standards and nuclear quality requirements
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and QA teams to support project delivery
Mandatory Requirements
- Experience working with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) or a vendor supporting OPG
- Proven experience with OPG AS9 Assessing
- Strong background in OPG Work Planning (Preparation / Review / Approval)
- Hands-on experience with Work Package preparation (lift plans, FME plans, confined space plans, etc.)
- Extensive experience with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) (Preparation / Review / Approval)
Nice to Have
- Previous experience supporting projects at OPG sites (Pickering/Darlington)
- Experience working with vendors such as Framatome
- Strong understanding of QA/QC processes in nuclear or regulated industries
