Salary: £39,152 - £41,771


Location: CAT Head Office, Tamworth


Working pattern: 37 hours per week, whole year


Disclosure level: Enhanced DBS


Responsible to: Director of Operations and Compliance

Community Academies Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced, highly organised and professional Trust Governance Manager to lead and develop effective governance across the Trust. This is an important role at the heart of our governance arrangements, providing expert advice, assurance and support to the Trust Board, Members, committees, local governors, senior leaders and governance professionals.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that governance across the Trust is compliant, well-coordinated, transparent and effective. Working closely with the Director of Operations and Compliance, Deputy CEOs, Company Secretary, Trustees, School Standards Committees, Chairs, governors and clerks, you will help strengthen governance practice and support the Trust’s continued development.

About the role

As Trust Governance Manager, you will oversee governance effectiveness and compliance across the Trust, ensuring that statutory and regulatory requirements are met and that governance arrangements reflect best practice. You will coordinate governance meetings, maintain accurate records, manage governance reporting and assurance, support local governance arrangements and provide clear, impartial advice on governance matters.

You will also support governance training, recruitment, induction and development, quality assure clerking arrangements, contribute to policy and compliance monitoring, and ensure effective communication between the Trust Board, Members, committees, School Standards Committees and wider stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who can:

provide professional governance advice to Trustees, Members, committees, governors and senior leaders;

ensure governance records, statutory returns, registers, policies and published information are accurate and compliant;

coordinate effective Board, committee and governance meetings, including agendas, minutes, actions and reporting cycles;

support and develop local governance arrangements across School Standards Committees;

quality assure governance clerking and promote consistent standards across the Trust;

identify governance risks, monitor compliance and escalate issues appropriately;

work with integrity, confidentiality, diplomacy and sound professional judgement.

About you

You will have strong knowledge of academy governance, including governance structures, legislation, regulatory frameworks and best practice. You will be confident in advising senior stakeholders, managing confidential information, preparing high-quality documentation and coordinating work across multiple schools or sites.

You will be organised, accurate, calm under pressure and able to balance strategic awareness with attention to detail. You will demonstrate integrity, discretion and a commitment to the Nolan Principles of Public Life. Experience of governance in an education or academy trust setting would be advantageous.
