Project: Nuclear

The Senior / Lead Nuclear Digital I&C IV&V Engineer will independently verify and validate nuclear instrumentation and control products, with emphasis on digital I&C systems, embedded control systems, software-controlled hardware, and system-level test execution. The role requires a technical owner who can translate requirements into testable objectives, develop verification strategies, create and execute test plans and procedures, evaluate test results, support anomaly resolution, and provide technical leadership through design reviews, FATs, and customer-facing execution.

This is not a procedure-only testing role. The successful candidate must help define what needs to be tested, how it should be tested, what evidence is required, and when issues require escalation.

Minimum Qualifications / Must-Haves
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.

· Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in verification, validation, testing, design, systems engineering, nuclear I&C, embedded systems, or related technical work.

· Minimum 5 years of experience developing, executing, or evaluating test plans, test procedures, test reports, or requirements-based verification evidence.

· Minimum 3 years of experience with digital I&C systems, embedded systems, software-controlled hardware, or complex control systems. FPGA/PLD-based system experience may count toward this experience but is not required.

· Demonstrated experience performing requirements analysis and requirements-to-test traceability.

· Demonstrated experience reviewing technical requirements, design documentation, interface documentation, or software/hardware release documentation.

· Demonstrated ability to evaluate test results, identify anomalies, document issues clearly, and support issue resolution.

· Strong technical writing skills, including test procedures, test reports, technical evaluations, issue summaries, and review comments.

· Ability to work within formal quality processes, configuration control expectations, and controlled engineering documentation.

· Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate technical, quality, schedule, or configuration concerns.

Required Technical Skillsets

Candidate should demonstrate capability in several of the following areas:

· Requirements-based testing and traceability

· IV&V test planning and execution

· Test procedure and test report development

· System, subsystem, component, FAT, and regression testing

· Digital I&C systems, embedded control systems, or software-controlled hardware

· Interface analysis and design review participation

· Technical review and comment resolution

· Change impact assessment and regression planning

· Anomaly identification and technical documentation

· Corrective action / condition adverse to quality support

· Configuration control of test systems, software versions, hardware configurations, SD cards, setups, and evidence packages

· Customer or stakeholder-facing technical communication

Key Responsibilities

· Perform independent V&V activities for nuclear digital I&C systems, including requirements analysis, design evaluation, interface analysis, traceability analysis, and test evidence review.

· Develop system V&V test requirements to ensure products meet system, software, hardware, and performance specifications.

· Develop IV&V test plans, procedures, testware, reports, traceability matrices, and supporting documentation.

· Perform, witness, and evaluate component, subsystem, system, FAT, and regression tests.

· Evaluate results, identify anomalies, document findings, and support technical disposition of issues.

· Support review of source code documentation, FPGA/PLD documentation, firmware documentation, embedded software behavior, release documentation, and verification evidence as applicable.

· Participate in technical and baseline reviews of requirements, design documents, interface documents, software release documentation, test plans, procedures, and reports.

· Perform or support FMEA, hazard analysis, cybersecurity vulnerability assessments, safety analysis, traceability analysis, and security analysis.

· Support development and evaluation of simulators, test setups, test tools, automated test equipment, and manufacturing test procedures.

· Drive compliance with GEH / GE Vernova and industry-based system/software lifecycle processes.

· Support documentation, analysis, and resolution of conditions adverse to quality through the corrective action program.

· Support customer-facing FAT execution, including technical issue management, test record completion, and communication of results.

· Support project scoping, scheduling, bidding, resource planning, and execution planning for IV&V / FAT work.

· Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to less experienced engineers and test personnel.

· Work cross-functionally with systems engineering, software, hardware, FPGA, project management, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and lab technicians.

Desired / Preferred Qualifications
· 10+ years of experience in nuclear I&C, digital controls, embedded systems, IV&V, FAT, or safety-related system testing.

· Experience with nuclear I&C products such as NUMAC, RCMS, RC&IS, PRNM, ATIP, DSS-CD, SRNM, WRNM, or similar platforms.

· Experience as a System IV&V Engineer, Responsible Engineer, Lead Test Engineer, or FAT lead.

· Experience supporting nuclear customers, nuclear plant modifications, or nuclear supplier product delivery.

· Experience reviewing or testing FPGA/PLD designs, including code review, simulation, test, and report generation.

· Experience with embedded processors such as Intel, ARM, DSP, microcontrollers, or similar platforms.

· Experience with PCB-level design review, component selection, signal interfaces, power supplies, communication interfaces, or hardware troubleshooting.

· Experience developing or using test simulators, test tools, automated test equipment, manufacturing test procedures, LabVIEW, ATS200, or similar automated test platforms.

· Experience performing or supporting FMEA, hazard analysis, cybersecurity vulnerability assessments, safety analysis, security analysis, or requirements traceability analysis.

· Experience with IEEE, IEC, EPRI, NRC, CNSC, or other nuclear industry standards and guidance.

· Experience supporting project scoping, scheduling, proposal development, bid support, or resource planning.

· Experience mentoring engineers, developing training material, or leading technical onboarding.

· Experience with corrective action programs, root cause evaluation, condition adverse to quality documentation, or quality issue resolution.

· Prior nuclear site experience as a reactor operator, I&C technician, system engineer, maintenance engineer, or commissioning/startup engineer.

· Prior experience with another nuclear supplier providing I&C equipment or safety-related digital control systems.

High-Value Differentiators
· Owns the full requirements-to-evidence verifica
