SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly primary school in South Birmingham. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development, ensuring every child feels valued and able to achieve their best.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with the delivery of lessons
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
• Help pupils access the curriculum and adapt activities where appropriate
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social development
• Prepare resources, maintain displays and contribute to the wider school environment
• Support school events, activities and the wider school community

Person Specification

• Minimum 3 months’ UK primary classroom experience with SEN children
• Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or relevant)
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Patient, flexible and proactive approach
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and helping every child succeed
