Linux & OpenShift Application Engineer
to support the deployment, operation, and further development of applications and services on its Linux and OpenShift environments. The role works close to the workload and service layer, helping internal projects and service owners run their applications reliably, in both containerized and non-containerized setups. The position combines hands-on Linux administration with day-to-day application and service operations in a practical, project-facing environment.
Aufgaben
- Operate and support workloads running on the OpenShift / OCP environment
- Help project teams and service owners onboard their applications onto the platform
- Administer Linux-based applications and services, both containerized and non-containerized
- Support common infrastructure services such as web servers, databases, middleware, and scientific applications
- Troubleshoot service- and application-level issues across Linux and container runtimes
- Handle application deployment, configuration, updates, and lifecycle management
- Turn project and service requirements into workable, maintainable operating setups
- Work with the platform infrastructure team on standards, constraints, and improvements
Profil
Required:
- Strong Linux administration background
- Experience operating Linux applications and services
- Experience with containers and application deployment on Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Solid troubleshooting skills in application and service operations
- Practical experience with web servers, databases, middleware, or scientific software
- Service-oriented mindset, comfortable working directly with internal users and project teams
- Structured, pragmatic approach to operations and support
Preferred:
- Experience adapting or packaging applications for OpenShift
- Scripting or automation experience for service operations
- Familiarity with research IT or scientific application environments
- Experience with CI/CD from the application delivery side
