Main Purpose Of The Role
The post holder is part of a team whose aim is to promote the general wellbeing of residents by providing a high quality catering and nutrition service.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
1. To assist in the preparation of food and beverages to residents, visitors and others.
2. To support colleagues in the serving of meals, snacks and beverages to residents, visitors and others.
3. Maintain a high standard of presentation in the dining and kitchen areas by setting and clearing of tables, restocking fridges and store cupboards.
4. Regularly engage with, and seek feedback from, residents, relatives, visitors and colleagues in order to continually improve the residents' quality of life and level of service provided.
5. To display appropriate menu choices of the day and update as required.
6. To wash and dry kitchen pots/utensils, crockery and cutlery and ensure safe and proper storage.
7. To clean the kitchen area including floor, cookers, and satellite kitchens, in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
8. To assist in ensuring a high level of health and safety, cleanliness, food hygiene and safe working practices are followed to meet environmental food safety standards.
9. To report any problems to the Chef, Assistant Chef or Home Manager.
10. Assist in stock taking, stock rotation and storage of stock, including checking and receiving deliveries.
11. To ensure all machines and equipment are in good working order and report any faults immediately to the Chef, Assistant Chef, Home Manager and maintenance Person. If any machine is felt to be dangerous, to withdraw it from service immediately and ensure safe storage when not in use.
12. To ensure the Kitchen environment is kept clean, tidy and free from hazards.
General Responsibilities
• To be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others whilst at work, including colleagues, residents and visitors to the Home and for alerting the officers responsible to any hazards or potential risks to health and safety.
• To be fully conversant with the Beaumont policies relating to Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Whistleblowing.
• To ensure compliance with the Beaumont Information Governance Policy, maintaining an appropriate level of confidentiality around issues that may be personal or commercially sensitive.
• Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships both with colleagues, residents, visitors and other health professionals and agencies.
• To act as an ambassador for the Beaumont company Vision and Values.
• To promote equality and diversity at all times and across all work activities.
• To adhere to Beaumont policies and procedures.
• Attend mandatory training days / courses, on or off site, as and when required
• To undertake any other duties and accountabilities which would be lawful, reasonable and appropriate to the role.
As an Apprentice you will be included on a Hospitality Qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by Inspiro Learning who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve an assessor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.
To become an apprentice, you must:
- be 16 or over
- not already be in full-time education
As an apprentice you will:
- Complete a qualification in Hospitality and Catering
- Have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
- Learn and train for a specific job
- Get paid and receive holiday leave
- Get hands-on experience in a real job
- Study for 6 hours a week
- complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship

Things to consider
You cannot be a student and apply for this role as you cannot be funded to do an apprenticeship when in any other education that is funded
The role will be based in the kitchen but will also be dealing with residents to serve on a daily basis
