About the role

Job title: Pastoral Support Worker
First For Education are seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join a High School in Birmingham supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. 
This is a full-time, long-term position, working with pupils who require additional support with learning, communication and personal development. 
The school caters for pupils with a variety of needs and provides a highly supportive environment with experienced staff and access to specialist training, making it an excellent opportunity for a Pastoral Support Worker looking to develop their experience in a High School setting.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for SEN work and a caring, nurturing nature. Previous experience supporting individuals with Autism and learning disabilities is desirable. The role involves providing person-centred support to individuals with a range of additional needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe and inclusive environment.
 
Pastoral Support Workers benefits: 

  • Competitive daily rate (£110 – 130) per day, dependent on experience) 
    • PAYE paid weekly

Pastoral Support Workere role requirements: 

  • Providing pastoral and behavioural support to students across KS3 and KS4
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Supporting attendance, wellbeing, and safeguarding procedures
  • Managing behaviour and helping create a positive learning environment
  • Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils 
  • A proactive and adaptable approach 
  • Willingness to support with personal care if required (training provided) 
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing 
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply 

 
The successful Pastoral Support Worker will: 

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups 
    • Assist with both learning activities and personal development 
    • Support pupils with communication, behaviour and engagement 
    • Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment 
    • Work closely with teachers, SENCO and wider support staff 
    • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
