We are working with a well-established SEND school in New Malden that is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive and nurturing team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Complex needs and additional learning challenges
- Providing one-to-one and small group support
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes
- Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Encouraging independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom
- Helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families
- Supporting pupils with personal care where required
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND
- Patient, caring, and resilient
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Confident managing challenging behaviours in a calm and positive manner
- Flexible and proactive in their approach to supporting learning
- Strong communicators with excellent teamwork skills
- Previous experience working within a SEND school, mainstream school, care setting, or support role
- Understanding of Autism, SEMH, or learning difficulties
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Psychology
