The British Army’s estate is complex, diverse and critical to ensuring defence outputs. Regional Command Infrastructure Branch, of which you will be part of, has a fully integrated & co-ordinated workforce of regular & reserve army, civil servants and contractors. Our diverse workforce primarily focuses on ‘The Firm Base’. Together, we look after facilities management for Army barracks across Central England and Wales.

This post is an exciting opportunity to begin a career within an essential part of the infrastructure delivery profession. You will support the Staff Officer Grade 2 for all facilities management in the North East Region. Based out of Bourlon Barracks, you will build a strong understanding of the military community, including both Regular and Reserve Units, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and Industry Partners (IPs) as well as the Reserve Forces and Cadet Associations (RFCA) for the North of England and Yorkshire. You will ensure soldiers are supported and advised on the total Facilities Management (FM), both Hard and Soft, situation within their Stations.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

As an Executive Officer within Regional Command Infrastructure Branch, you will develop valuable skills in stakeholder engagement, analysis, planning and facilities management while helping to ensure the Army estate continues to support operational readiness and the wellbeing of service personnel.

Main Role Responsibilities:

• Obtain and evaluate establishment needs and priorities, apprising the Regional Infrastructure Cell (RIC) Forward. Infra lead of analysis, to enable them to inform RIC planning and Balance of Investment (BoI) decisions.
• Obtain and evaluate establishment needs and priorities in order to inform the Chain of Command and enable decision support.
• Support RIC Forward. activities by liaising with Heads of Establishment (HoE) and their designated representatives as well as representatives of the DIO, RFCA and their contracted Service Providers.
• Support the communication of the planned Command Infrastructure Delivery Plan (CIDP) works schedule to interested parties, HQ North Command, HoE, DIO, RFCA.
• Capture and notify establishment issues and risks to allow consolidation of trends as well as trend analysis, and subsequent escalation where required.
• Identify breaches in service delivery performance within designated Area of Operation and assist in resolution where appropriate.
• Collate establishment feedback on Hard and Soft FM contracted service delivery satisfaction to report performance standards to the RIC.
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) contribution to Sites on Infrastructure and FM issues.
• Manage the Infra SharePoint page so that it is an informed forward repository of FM information easily navigable by stakeholders, from Regional Command to local level, across the stakeholder community

Person specification

Essential Skills Required:

• To hold a full UK driving licence due to the remote location of some of the locations.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels within the organisation.
• Exceptional organisational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to work to strict deadlines, demonstrating an ability to prioritise workload and work on multiple tasks at one time.
• The ability to engage and communicate both verbally and in writing with stakeholders at all levels, always maintaining professionalism.
• You will require a practitioner level of knowledge for facilities management activities which will be developed and broadened whilst in the role.
• An adaptable team player, with experience of working collaboratively, but comfortable when working alone, with minimal direction

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience working for the MOD or knowledge of the MOD

Licences

Full UK driving license - Travel away from the duty station is expected as part of routine stakeholder engagement, site visits, meetings with Heads of Establishment, DIO, RFCA and Industry Partners, typically several times per month.
