About the role

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to further develop their skills in data management and analysis. You work closely with stakeholders from across the business, focusing on data extracted from the Oracle system, which includes HR and Finance data.

The post involves sourcing/extracting data, transforming and formatting the data to help present the information using the most suitable tools.

The post supports the corporate Business Intelligence function and responsibilities include supporting the background processes that help the BI systems function correctly.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to pursue a career in data analysis and visualisation, helping the business to get greater insights from its data.

The Crown Prosecution Service is based in England and Wales. You must be aged 16 before starting in this role. The start date is expected to be 8-12 weeks after the application deadline.

If you’re a current Crown Prosecution Service employee, you remain based at your permanent office location throughout the post. You’re expected to travel to the temporary office at least 40% of your contracted hours over a four-week period – travel and subsistence may be applicable.

Job description

Your roles and responsibilities include:

  • Working in the Business Intelligence and Systems section of the team
  • Being responsible for a wide variety of systems & processes that ensure that Management Information and Business Intelligence dashboards get produced accurately and in line with Service Level Agreements.
  • Meeting the needs of ad hoc or scheduled reporting. This will include using database reporting tools, visualisation tools such as Oracle and SharePoint, and database/spreadsheet skills to extract & manipulate data from a variety of systems.
  • Creating new ways to obtain, extract & deliver data in an environment of continuous development, ensuring it is done in the most accurate and efficient way, as well as being required to offer advice & guidance to our stakeholders in relation to data, whether you are in the CPS or external

The Crown Prosecution Service has fixed rates for its Executive Officer grade – a developing rate (the starting salary) and a spot rate (the maximum salary). Applicants typically join us on the developing rate and, after completing a 15-month development period, move to the spot rate if your line manager confirms you’re performing the role to a satisfactory standard.

If you’re joining the Crown Prosecution Service on a lateral transfer from another government department, you should contact us about the impact on your salary and the implications of any time you’ve already spent at that grade before applying or accepting an employment offer. Your salary may be adjusted if your location changes when you join us.
