About the role

Our Vacancy

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Trade Operative to join our team, delivering high-quality responsive repairs and maintenance services within social housing properties.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you will use your skills across a range of trades, including basic carpentry and plumbing, while also carrying out plastering, decorating, tiling and general property maintenance. Working with minimal supervision, you will ensure repairs are completed efficiently, safely and to an excellent standard, helping us provide great homes and outstanding service to our residents.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a strong commitment to customer service, health and safety, and quality workmanship.


What you'll do

Complete reactive repairs, maintenance works and replacements in occupied and void properties.Carry out a range of trade activities including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, decorating, tiling and general repairs.Deliver work safely, efficiently and to agreed quality standards.Identify when specialist trades are required and promptly communicate this to your Supervisor.Work collaboratively with colleagues and other operatives to complete repairs and projects.Accurately record works completed, materials used and property information using handheld devices and business systems.Provide excellent customer service, keeping residents informed and treating their homes with respect.Order and manage materials effectively to ensure repairs are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.Maintain compliance with safeguarding requirements, company policies and health and safety regulations.Operate company vehicles in accordance with occupational road risk policies and procedures.

What you'll need

We're looking for someone with proven experience in a multi-skilled trade or property maintenance role, with recognised qualifications such as an NVQ or equivalent in a relevant trade. You'll be competent across a range of disciplines, including carpentry and plumbing, and ideally have experience in plastering, decorating and tiling to enable you to complete repairs from start to finish. You'll have a strong understanding of health and safety requirements, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering high standards of workmanship. Experience of working within social housing is desirable, as is a CSCS Blue Card and completion of the CSCS Health & Safety Operative Test. A full UK driving licence is essential, along with confidence using handheld technology to record and manage work activities. You'll also be comfortable working at height, on uneven ground and within confined spaces when required, always maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach.
