Structural Engineer (Intermediate to Senior) | Birmingham | £37,000 – £60,000 DOE | Hybrid (1 day office / 4 days home)

JustEng is partnering with an award-winning structural engineering consultancy — recognised with two IStructE Structural Awards — to appoint a Structural Engineer into its Birmingham team, at Intermediate, Senior or anywhere in between depending on experience.

This is a genuinely varied portfolio: domestic extensions and loft conversions sit alongside heritage and listed-building work, education, retail and industrial schemes, and large mixed-use developments running into hundreds of millions of pounds. You’ll move between scales in the same week rather than being boxed into one sector.

The opportunity

• Design and detail structural schemes across residential, heritage, education, retail, commercial and industrial sectors
• Work on refurbishment and existing-structure adaptation as much as new build — this practice has a particular strength in reusing and adapting what’s already there
• Produce calculations, drawings and specifications using industry-standard software
• Liaise directly with architects, contractors and clients — a flat, collaborative team rather than a large hierarchy
• Progress schemes from concept through to construction, with real ownership of your own projects
• Mentor and be mentored — the team invests deliberately in developing engineers at every level

About you

• Degree in civil or structural engineering (or equivalent)
• Around 4–15 years’ structural engineering experience — Intermediate through Senior level all welcome, salary and title matched to experience
• Comfortable across a genuinely varied portfolio rather than one sector
• Working towards or holding chartership (IStructE or ICE)
• Clear, plain-English communicator
• Right to work in the UK

• £37,000 – £60,000 depending on experience, reviewed annually every December
