Civil Engineering, Supervisor

Position Summary

We are seeking two experienced Civil Engineering Supervisors to provide daily front-line supervision and technical leadership to civil engineering teams supporting nuclear projects.

The supervisors will plan engineering activities, assign and monitor workloads, oversee technical deliverables and ensure projects are completed safely and in accordance with applicable nuclear standards, schedules and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and technical direction to civil engineers and project support staff.
• Plan, assign and oversee civil engineering activities based on project priorities.
• Manage team workloads, schedules, workflows and technical deliverables.
• Monitor the performance, objectives and technical standards of assigned team members.
• Review and approve civil and structural designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Provide technical oversight for design, analysis, construction and field execution activities.
• Oversee structural and stress-analysis work where required.
• Ensure engineering work complies with applicable civil codes, nuclear standards, quality requirements and client procedures.
• Support the resolution of complex civil, structural, construction and field-related issues.
• Track project progress and provide regular updates to engineering and project management.
• Identify technical, scheduling and resource risks and recommend solutions.
• Coach and mentor team members while supporting their technical development.
• Coordinate with clients, operations, project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Support project scheduling, budgeting and resource planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required.
• Minimum six years of related civil engineering experience.
• Previous supervisory or technical leadership experience.
• Experience supporting nuclear projects or working within an operating nuclear facility.
• Active OPG or Bruce Power security clearance, depending on the assignment.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable civil and structural engineering codes, standards and practices.
• Experience overseeing structural or stress-analysis work is an asset.
• Experience with CAD, FEA or other specialized engineering software is an asset.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
