$40 - $50 an hour 

Position Overview

We are currently seeking Junior Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil professionals to support ongoing projects and engineering activities at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) facilities across Ontario.

These opportunities are well suited for recent graduates, junior engineers, engineering technologists, and early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience within the power generation and nuclear industry.

Candidates must have active OPG security clearance and be available to work onsite five days per week. These are not hybrid or remote positions.

Disciplines

We are interested in junior candidates with backgrounds in:

  • Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Electrical Engineering / Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Civil Engineering / Civil Engineering Technology

Candidates with experience supporting engineering, design, construction, maintenance, or project activities within a utility, industrial, or nuclear environment are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on discipline and project assignment, responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting engineering and technical teams with day-to-day project activities.
  • Assisting with engineering calculations, technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
  • Reviewing and updating engineering documentation and design deliverables.
  • Supporting field activities, inspections, walkdowns, and site investigations.
  • Assisting with design modifications and technical assessments.
  • Coordinating with engineers, designers, project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting project documentation, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Participating in meetings and providing technical updates as required.
  • Ensuring work is completed in accordance with applicable OPG procedures, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Performing other engineering or technical duties appropriate to the candidate’s discipline and level of experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Recent graduates and junior professionals are encouraged to apply.
  • Active and valid OPG security clearance is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with engineering/design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, ETAP, or similar tools is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in nuclear, power generation, utilities, industrial, or construction environments is an asset but not mandatory for junior candidates.

Work Environment

  • 5 days per week onsite at an OPG location.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in an industrial/power generation environment.
  • Site access, safety, and security requirements must be followed at all times.
  • Candidates must already hold OPG clearance to be considered.

Compensation

Hourly rate will be commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications.

As these are junior-level opportunities, candidates are encouraged to provide a competitive rate reflective of their experience.

Additional Consideration

Candidates currently holding Bruce Power FTL or PrEL qualifications, who also possess valid OPG clearance, are encouraged to apply. These candidates will be reviewed based on their experience, qualifications, and rate expectations.
