About the role

About the role

You will play a key part in inspiring and motivating our students, which includes stepping into lessons to demonstrate practical equipment and enhance hands-on learning. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead our Design Technology Club up to two days a week (3:15 pm - 4:00 pm).

This position involves working within a busy and friendly environment, providing support to the Design Technology and Art Department, Teaching staff and our students. The department is well-resourced and each member of staff has their own teaching room and desktop PC. The department has its own Staff Room within the suite of the Art classrooms.

The Design Technology Technician position has a central Office / Prep Room with workshop machinery and tool/material stores, which the successful candidate would be responsible for maintaining and organising, as well as managing materials and tools across 3 Design Technology classrooms and store rooms. The successful candidate would be part of a strong team of ten Teaching staff and two other Technicians each specialising in Food Technology, Art and Photography.

An interest in the Arts, Engineering, Construction and Design would be advantageous and an understanding of workshop equipment preferable, as we deliver GCSE and A level 3D Design using a variety of materials and equipment which our technician will be responsible for. The successful candidate would need to be computer literate, organised, and ultimately keen to be part of a dynamic, exciting Art and Design Technology department.

The post-holder will demonstrate the Trust values of Honesty, Faith, and Courage, modelling professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to putting pupils first.

About You

We understand that strong, respectful relationships are the foundation of learning and development. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be patient, caring and adaptable

  • Have high expectations for all learners

  • Be committed to inclusion and equity

  • Use relational practice to support behaviour and emotional needs

  • Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills

Experience in a similar role or supporting children is an advantage, but not essential—we value the right mindset and passion most of all.
