OVERVIEW



An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Project Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable construction consultancy working on a major infrastructure development project in Scotland.



This role will focus on the commercial delivery of a large-scale infrastructure package involving significant civils works including earthworks, drainage, utilities, power networks, road infrastructure, water features, environmental works, and landscape creation.



The position offers the opportunity to work on a substantial, long-term development project delivering complex infrastructure works as part of a wider multidisciplinary scheme.



This role is ideally suited to a Quantity Surveyor with strong post-contract experience in civil engineering or infrastructure projects who is looking to take ownership of commercial administration while working closely with a wider project team.

ROLE



As a Project Quantity Surveyor (Infrastructure PQS), you will be responsible for managing the commercial administration of a major infrastructure package on a large-scale development project.



Working under a JCT Design & Build contract, the role will involve managing valuations, cost control, variations, and final accounts while ensuring effective commercial management throughout the construction phase.



The position will be primarily based in the Nottingham office with regular site visits required to support project delivery and engage with the wider project team.



RESPONSIBILITIES



Key responsibilities include:

Leading pre- and post-contract commercial administration under a JCT Design & Build contract
Managing contractor valuations, payment applications, certifications, and final accounts
Overseeing change control processes including variations, instructions, and loss & expense claims
Maintaining accurate cost reporting, budget management, and cashflow forecasting
Undertaking measurement and re-measurement of infrastructure works including drainage, utilities, roadworks, earthworks, and environmental features
Assessing contractor claims and ensuring robust entitlement review and supporting documentation
Monitoring programme impacts arising from variations and advising on associated commercial implications
Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements including notices, timeframes, and risk mitigation under JCT
Attending project progress meetings and providing commercial updates to the client and project team
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support successful project delivery


PERSON



The ideal Project Quantity Surveyor will demonstrate:

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor or PQS with strong post-contract exposure
Experience working on infrastructure or civil engineering projects such as earthworks, drainage, utilities, highways, or environmental works
Strong understanding of JCT contracts, particularly Design & Build
Experience managing valuations, variations, and contractor claims
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related built environment discipline
Working towards or holding RICS chartership (preferred)
Strong negotiation, analytical, and cost management skills
Ability to work effectively within large, multidisciplinary project teams
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel to project sites when required
Contractor-side QS experience will also be considered.
