ROLE
As a Project Manager, you'll take responsibility for the full life cycle delivery of construction projects from inception through to completion. This Construction Project Manager Construction role requires you to manage all aspects of project delivery, including programme management, cost control, quality assurance, risk management and stakeholder coordination, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Reporting directly to senior Project Managers and directors, you'll gain exposure to strategic client relationships, business development initiatives and wider organisational operations. This Project Manager job in Cambridge also provides the opportunity to mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, solutions-focused project culture.
You'll work on diverse construction schemes across multiple sectors, developing your technical expertise whilst building strong client relationships that position you for future progression within the consultancy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities for this Construction Project Manager job include:
Manage construction projects across all stages of delivery, from feasibility and pre-contract through to practical completion and handover
Act as the primary client point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction
Lead and chair project meetings, design team coordination sessions and issue comprehensive meeting minutes
Prepare, maintain and manage project programmes using industry-standard project management software
Coordinate consultants, contractors and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery
Manage project risk registers, change control processes and provide regular reporting to senior management
Support tender processes, procurement activities and contract administration under JCT and NEC frameworks
Monitor progress against programme milestones, cost targets and quality standards
Provide regular progress updates to senior Project Managers, directors, clients and internal stakeholders
Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to their professional development
Drive a professional, proactive and solutions-focused approach across all project activities
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, CDM 2015 and quality management systems
PERSON
To be successful in this Project Manager Cambridge role, you will demonstrate:
A relevant construction, built environment or project management degree (or equivalent professional experience)
Proven experience delivering construction projects through the full life cycle within a consultancy or contractor environment
Experience across one or more of the following sectors: life sciences, sports and leisure, higher education, healthcare or residential construction
Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts and construction procurement processes
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills for effective client engagement
Strong organisational, planning and time management abilities to handle multiple concurrent projects
A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage projects independently
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and project management software such as MS Project or Primavera
Sound understanding of RIBA stages, design coordination and construction delivery methodologies
Ambition to progress to senior Project Manager or Associate Director level within a growing consultancy
Professional membership such as APM, RICS or CIOB is desirable
Full UK driving licence for site visits across Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas
