ROLE

As a Senior Project Manager, you'll take responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects from inception through to completion, with a strong focus on schemes within the life sciences, healthcare, industrial and manufacturing sectors across Cambridge and the wider region.

This Construction Project Manager job requires you to lead all aspects of project delivery, including programme management, cost control, quality assurance, risk management and stakeholder coordination, whilst providing strategic direction and leadership to the wider project team. Many of the construction projects will involve complex technical requirements, live environments and specialist stakeholder groups.

The Senior Project Manager Construction role includes contract administration, project programming, consultant and contractor management, client communication and oversight of governance and reporting processes. You'll act as the primary point of contact for key clients and play an important role in mentoring junior team members whilst supporting the continued growth of the regional team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities for this Senior Construction Project Manager job include:

Manage complex construction projects across all stages of delivery
Lead projects within the life sciences, healthcare, industrial and manufacturing sectors across Cambridgeshire and the Eastern region
Act as the primary client point of contact and trusted advisor for key stakeholder relationships
Lead and chair project meetings, design team coordination sessions and issue comprehensive meeting minutes
Prepare, maintain and manage project programmes using industry-standard project management software
Coordinate consultants, contractors and specialist stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of construction projects
Manage project risk registers, change control processes and performance reporting for senior stakeholders
Oversee tender processes, procurement strategies and contract administration under JCT and NEC frameworks
Monitor progress against programme milestones, cost targets and quality objectives
Provide clear and regular progress updates to clients, senior stakeholders and internal leadership teams
Mentor and support junior Project Managers and project coordinators within the team
Contribute to business development activities and strengthen existing client relationships across the region
Drive a professional, proactive and solutions-focused approach across all project activities
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, CDM 2015 and quality management systems
PERSON

To be successful in this Senior Project Manager Cambridge role, you will demonstrate:

A relevant construction, built environment or project management degree (or equivalent professional experience)
Extensive experience delivering construction projects within a consultancy environment at senior level
Proven ability to lead complex projects independently from inception to completion
Experience working on construction projects within life sciences, healthcare, industrial or manufacturing environments is highly desirable
Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts and construction procurement processes
Experience working with developers, design consultants and main contractors on multidisciplinary schemes
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills for effective client engagement
Strong organisational, planning and time management abilities to handle multiple concurrent projects
A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong decision-making capability and commercial awareness
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and project management software such as MS Project or Primavera
Sound understanding of RIBA stages, procurement routes and project controls across the full life cycle
A strong technical understanding of construction methodologies and complex building systems
Professional membership such as MRICS, MAPM, APM or CIOB (or working towards chartership) is desirable
Full UK driving licence for site visits across Cambridge and surrounding regions
