We are looking for a committed and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join Westwood Primary School in Lowestoft, a nurturing primary academy where high expectations are matched by a strong focus on care, inclusion and achievement. As part of this rewarding role, you will work closely with teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences, support pupils with a range of needs, and contribute to the progress, wellbeing and confidence of every child. This is an opportunity for someone who combines strong classroom practice with compassion, initiative and teamwork, and who is motivated by making a genuine difference to children’s educational journeys.
This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in our Early Years provision. The successful candidate will be based in Reception when not carrying out HLTA duties, so experience of working within EYFS and a sound understanding of the EYFS curriculum are essential. While HLTA responsibilities will mainly support EYFS and Key Stage 1, there will be occasions when class cover is needed in Key Stage 2.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes under the direction of a teacher, adapting support to meet pupils’ needs.
- Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional and personal development, including those with additional learning, medical or behavioural needs.
- Assess, record and report on pupil progress, helping to inform future learning and support plans.
- Provide short-term cover supervision and contribute to the effective organisation of teaching and learning.
- Work closely with families, colleagues and external professionals to promote pupil wellbeing, achievement and inclusion.
Why Join Our Trust?
- Belong to a compassionate and inclusive trust that values you and the role you play.
- Join an experienced group of people that are fully dedicated to delivering the best for our children.
