Queen Katherine School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly organised Assistant to the SENCO to join our supportive and ambitious team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality SEND provision within a thriving secondary school and across the wider inclusion agenda of Cumbria Education Trust.

About the Role

Working closely with the SENCO, you will:

  • Lead and support a team of Learning Support Assistants.
  • Help coordinate and deliver effective SEND provision and interventions.
  • Chair and record Annual Reviews where appropriate.
  • Develop Learning Action Plans and student passports.
  • Liaise with families, pastoral teams and external agencies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and support programmes.
  • Ensure SEND records and documentation are maintained to a high standard.
  • Contribute to staff development and the promotion of inclusive practice across the school.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines leadership, coordination and direct support for students, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people's educational journeys.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds HLTA status or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Has experience supporting children and young people with a range of learning needs.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external professionals.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to inclusion and ensuring every student can thrive.
