Junior Project Manager

OVERVIEW

A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and driven Junior Project Manager to join a leading construction consultancy in Nottingham. This role offers hands-on exposure to a wide range of construction projects, supporting delivery across both pre- and post-contract stages.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their project management career, take on increasing responsibility, and progress towards independently managing projects. It is particularly suitable for those at graduate, trainee, or early project management level with construction or contractor-side experience.

ROLE

As a Junior Project Manager, you will support senior project managers while gradually taking ownership of your own project workstreams. The role spans contract administration, project programming, consultant coordination, client communication, and wider project delivery responsibilities.

You will be actively involved in planning, managing, monitoring, and delivering construction projects to meet time, cost, and quality targets. This position provides a structured development route for those at early career stage, helping you build the confidence and competence needed to advance into more senior project management roles within the consultancy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting senior project managers and leading on defined elements of project delivery
Understanding and delivering against client briefs
Chairing project and design meetings, and issuing minutes
Preparing and maintaining project programmes and documentation
Coordinating project information between client, contractor, and consultant teams
Liaising with clients and managing project deliverables
Assisting with tender processes, bids, and key project documentation
Providing progress updates to clients and internal management
Supporting lessons-learnt reviews and wider team activities
Maintaining a professional, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
PERSON

The ideal Junior Project Manager will bring:

A relevant industry degree or working towards one
1-2 years’ experience in a construction or contractor environment
Familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts (desirable)
Experience with developers or main contractors (desirable)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent time management and organisational abilities
A proactive, self-starting attitude and genuine interest in the built environment
Competency with Microsoft Office software
Understanding of RIBA stages and procurement processes
A technical grasp of construction methodologies
