Salary: Up to £40,000, depending on experience
Zest4Talent is working with an established multidisciplinary building-services and sustainability consultancy to recruit a Junior Embodied Carbon Consultant for its Leeds team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the beginning of their sustainability career to develop specialist expertise in embodied carbon, Whole Life Carbon Assessment and Life Cycle Assessment.
You will join a collaborative team delivering sustainability advice across a varied portfolio of building projects. With support from experienced consultants, you will help clients understand carbon performance and make informed decisions about materials, systems and construction methods.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Whole Life Carbon Assessments and Life Cycle Assessments.
- Calculating embodied carbon associated with building materials and building-services systems.
- Gathering, checking and analysing project information.
- Assisting with carbon modelling using recognised software and databases.
- Reviewing Environmental Product Declarations and material information.
- Comparing design solutions and identifying carbon-reduction opportunities.
- Preparing technical calculations, reports and presentations.
- Supporting the preparation of circular-economy and sustainability statements.
- Collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Keeping your knowledge of relevant carbon standards and guidance up to date.
About You
You should have:
- A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, building services, architecture, construction, quantity surveying or a related discipline.
- An understanding of embodied carbon, Whole Life Carbon Assessment or Life Cycle Assessment.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Confidence handling project data and technical information.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and collaborative approach.
- A strong interest in sustainability and the decarbonisation of the built environment.
Experience with One Click LCA or another carbon-assessment platform would be advantageous. However, candidates with relevant academic knowledge and the motivation to develop their technical skills are also encouraged to apply.
