Cover Supervisor – Secondary School – DN4 – September Start

Provide Education are working with a secondary school in the DN4 area who are looking for a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join them from September 2026.
A Cover Supervisor is responsible for supervising pupils when their usual teacher is unavailable. This is not a teaching role and you will not be expected to plan lessons or deliver your own curriculum. Instead, you will make sure students complete the work that has been prepared by the absent teacher, manage behaviour and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
You will work across different subjects and year groups, making this a great role for someone who is adaptable, confident and enjoys working with young people.

What We’re Looking For:

• A calm, professional and consistent approach
• Ability to follow lesson plans and instructions provided by teaching staff
• Reliable, organised and able to use your initiative
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Applicants with transferable skills and backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. This could include experience in support work, childcare, social work, sports coaching, healthcare, youth work, mentoring, care or similar roles where you have developed strong communication, relationship-building and behaviour management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes when the usual teacher is unavailable
• Deliver the work and resources provided by the class teacher
• Make sure students understand what they have been asked while maintaing focused on the task.
• Manage behaviour appropriately and consistently
• Follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding procedures
• Provide basic support with students’ work where appropriate
• Work across a range of subjects and year groups
