Cover Supervisor Required – Secondary School – DN31

Provide Education are recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to work in a secondary school in DN31 from September 2026.
Cover Supervisors are an important part of the school team, helping to keep learning on track when a teacher is absent. Your role will be to supervise students while they complete work that has been prepared by their teacher. You will not be responsible for planning lessons or delivering your own schemes of work.
The successful candidate will need to be confident taking responsibility for a classroom, managing behaviour and making sure students remain focused on the work provided.

What We’re Looking For:

• Confident working with secondary-aged young people
• Strong communication skills
• Good classroom and behaviour management
• Reliable, organised and punctual
• Able to follow school instructions and use your initiative
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Candidates with transferable skills and backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from people with experience in support work, childcare, social work, sports coaching, healthcare, youth work, mentoring, residential care and similar roles.
Your previous job does not have to be in education. We are looking for people who are confident, resilient and comfortable working with young people.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes when a teacher is unavailable
• Explain instructions and make sure students know what they need to complete and encourage pupils to remain focused and engaged
• Maintain a calm and productive classroom
• Support students where appropriate
• Report any behaviour, safeguarding or welfare concerns
• Work across a variety of subjects and year groups
