About the role

Provide Education are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in DN37 from September 2026.
This is a full-time role supporting pupils who need some extra help with their learning, communication and behaviour. You’ll be working in a mainstream classroom, supporting pupils both 1:1 and in small groups depending on what they need.

The school has a supportive team and takes a really positive approach to SEND. The pupils have a range of needs, including communication difficulties and non-verbal learners. Some children will also need support with emotional regulation and behaviour, so being calm, patient and consistent is important.

This would be a good opportunity for someone who already has some experience working with children with SEND and wants to build on that experience.

The role:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
  • Helping children with their classwork and everyday activities
  • Supporting non-verbal pupils with communication
  • Adapting activities where needed to help pupils access their learning
  • Working alongside the class teacher during lessons
  • Helping pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Encouraging children to become more confident and independent
  • Building positive relationships with pupils
  • Working with the teacher, SENCO and other support staff

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEND
  • Has experience in a mainstream school
  • Ideally has experience supporting non-verbal pupils or children with behavioural needs
  • Understands some of the common SEND needs, such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH and speech and language difficulties
  • Is patient, understanding and approachable
  • Can stay calm and consistent when dealing with challenging situations
  • Has good communication skills
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Is committed to safeguarding and supporting children’s wellbeing
  • Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is happy to apply for one

The role offers:

  • £95–£115 per day, depending on experience
  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Full-time hours
  • September 2026 start
  • Temporary position with the possibility of becoming permanent
  • Access to CPD and training
  • Support from a dedicated consultant
  • £150 refer a friend scheme (T&Cs apply)

If you have experience working with children with SEND and are looking for a new role from September, please get in touch.
To apply, send your CV to [email removed] or apply today.
