SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 2 – September Start

Hours: Full-time preferred, but 3-day and 5-day options will be considered

We are currently seeking a dedicated, patient and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the DN4 area, supporting a Year 2 pupil from September.

This role will involve providing 1:1 support to a non-verbal child with additional needs, helping them to feel safe, supported and engaged throughout the school day. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping the child access learning, develop communication and build positive relationships within the school environment.

We would ideally like to appoint someone on a full-time basis (5 days per week), although the school would also consider candidates looking for 3 days per week.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience working with children with SEND, ideally including non-verbal children
• Be patient, nurturing and understanding
• Have a calm, consistent and positive approach
• Be confident supporting communication and individual needs
• Be proactive in helping a child access learning and participate in school life
• Be confident working as part of a wider school team
• Be committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
