About the role
Our client, a London-based international engineering consultancy with a growing Mechanical and Electrical division, is currently seeking a Mid/Senior Electrical Designer to join their team in Kingston upon Thames, London. This permanent position involves working on technically challenging infrastructure design projects across specialist sectors including ports, harbours, and container terminals, both in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing and overseeing feasibility studies, detailed design work, calculations, and technical documentation
- Collaborating closely with clients and multidisciplinary design teams
- Supporting clients and stakeholders during project implementation phases including design assurance and technical reviews
- Responding to site-related queries and involvement in testing and commissioning activities from a design perspective
- Working effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
- Managing responsibilities across multiple project stages
Job Requirements:
- Experience in electrical design, ideally within the ports industry, delivering large-scale, heavy-duty infrastructure design projects such as ports, harbours, or container terminals
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, including LV/HV distribution, utility networks, and resilience strategies
- Proficiency with industry software such as Amtech/Trimble, ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, and Revit
- Experience producing technical calculations, reports, and design documentation
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
- Ability to manage responsibilities across multiple project stages
- An Electrical Engineering degree is desirable but not essential
