About the role

A highly regarded, top‑tier law firm based in Tunbridge Wells is seeking an established Commercial Real Estate Partner to join its successful and growing Real Estate team.

This opportunity is suited to a senior lawyer with a demonstrable client following and strong expertise in landlord and tenant, investment and asset management work. The role offers exposure to high‑quality matters across the full lifecycle of commercial real estate assets, advising a diverse client base across multiple sectors.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across Real Estate, Dispute Resolution, Corporate/M&A and Banking & Finance to deliver integrated, commercially focused advice on complex property portfolios.

The Role

The incoming Partner will play a key role in advising clients on both strategic and day‑to‑day real estate matters, with a particular emphasis on portfolio management and value optimisation. The position combines transactional, advisory and client‑facing work, offering genuine scope to influence strategy and develop long‑term client relationships.

Core Focus: Landlord & Tenant, Investment & Asset Management

  • Advising on strategic and operational management of commercial property portfolios
  • Negotiating lettings, lease renewals, regears and lease variations
  • Handling surrenders, dilapidation claims and settlements
  • Acting on acquisitions and disposals of investment assets
  • Advising on investment structures, securitisation arrangements and development projects
  • Supporting clients with long‑term asset planning, risk management and commercial objectives
  • Working closely with the Real Estate Disputes team to provide seamless advice across contentious and non‑contentious matters

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Contributing to the leadership and continued growth of the Real Estate practice
  • Supporting business development activity and strengthening the firm's market profile
  • Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and contributing to the development of best practice
  • Working collaboratively across departments to deliver high‑quality, joined‑up advice

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified solicitor with substantial post‑qualification experience in commercial real estate
  • Strong focus on portfolio asset management and complex transactional work
  • Proven experience advising on sophisticated real estate transactions and ongoing portfolio management
  • Demonstrable corporate support experience, including M&A and financing transactions
  • Experience of investment, development and securitisation structures
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to balance legal risk and practical outcomes
  • Confident communicator, comfortable advising clients at senior and board level
  • Collaborative mindset with experience of working across multidisciplinary teams
