2-5PQE Commercial Litigation Associate - Brighton

A leading regional firm is seeking a talented Commercial Litigation Associate (2-5 PQE) to join its dynamic Dispute Resolution team based in Brighton. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated litigator to work within a supportive, ambitious team handling a high-quality and varied caseload.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work across a broad range of complex and challenging disputes, including:

• Professional negligence matters

• Banking and finance litigation

• Contractual and commercial disputes

• Shareholder and partnership disputes

• Defamation claims

• Judicial review

• Contentious insolvency

You will manage your own caseload under supervision while also working collaboratively with colleagues on larger or multi-disciplinary matters. The role offers a strong balance of autonomy, teamwork, and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Managing and progressing your own caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept fully updated

• Developing strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders

• Supporting partners and senior team members on a range of complex disputes

• Supervising and coaching junior colleagues, contributing to a consistent and high-standard client service experience

• Sharing knowledge within the team through informal mentoring and occasional training

• Monitoring performance against financial targets including billing, time recording, and matter budgets

• Ensuring files are maintained accurately in accordance with firm procedures

• Contributing to business development, including attending events, supporting marketing initiatives, and building industry knowledge

• Maintaining a strong understanding of the legal and commercial landscape affecting dispute resolution teams

About You

• Qualified solicitor with 2-5 years' PQE in commercial litigation

• Broad experience across a range of disputes

• Commercially minded problem solver with a pragmatic approach

• Confident communicator with experience advising clients directly

• Strong organisational skills, able to manage competing deadlines

• IT literate with experience using case management and time-recording systems

• Proactive and enthusiastic about business development and building client relationships
