Housing Disrepair Team Leader, Manchester City Centre
£50,000 – £60,000 (DOE ) + Excellent Bonus Structure

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Disrepair Team Leader to join a well-established and growing legal practice based in Manchester City Centre, specialising in housing litigation. With an excellent reputation for client service and a strong focus on continued growth, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal professional looking to take the next step in their career.

 

The Role

As Housing Disrepair Team Leader, you will provide strong leadership and day-to-day management to a team of legal professionals, ensuring high standards of client care, compliance, performance, and case progression.

Alongside managing your team, you will maintain your own caseload with the support of a Paralegal, providing an excellent balance between fee earning and leadership responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Leading, motivating, coaching, and developing a team to achieve targets
  • Managing workloads, prioritising cases, and ensuring business continuity
  • Monitoring performance through 1-2-1s, meetings, audits, and feedback
  • Supervising files and approving key legal documents, pleadings, expert and Counsel instructions
  • Managing performance issues with support from Operations and HR where required
  • Conducting probation reviews and supporting recruitment and staff induction
  • Handling complaints and risk investigations in line with firm policies
  • Maintaining high standards of client service, compliance, and case management
  • Managing your own housing disrepair caseload with Paralegal support
  • Working with Team Leaders and other departments to resolve operational challenges
  • Sharing knowledge and best practice, including housing disrepair developments and hearing outcomes
  • Identifying business risks, training needs, and process improvements
  • Working with senior management and Directors to support business growth and objectives
  • Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, regulations, and legal sector developments

Essentials

  • 2-5 years’+ litigation experience, ideally Housing Disrepair
  • Team leadership/supervision/mentoring experience
  • Strong understanding of litigation processes and case management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet strict deadlines/SLAs
  • Strong client care and conflict-management skills
  • Confident giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Experience with Proclaim or similar case management systems desirable
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Teams
  • Professional, motivated, adaptable and confident approach
  • High levels of integrity, initiative and professionalism
