Salary up to £55k basic + OT + work away allowances
We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering electrical engineering solutions for projects and sub-systems, from concept through to detailed design, supporting commissioning and final delivery.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex engineering projects within a multidisciplinary environment and may involve occasional UK and international travel.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Produce electrical engineering designs from concept through to detailed design.
- Create schematics, drawings, calculations, technical specifications and associated documentation.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Ensure designs are safe, robust and fit for purpose.
- Support design reviews and present technical solutions.
- Work closely with Mechanical, Hydraulic and Control Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Contribute to functional design specifications and project documentation.
- Support testing, commissioning and installation activities.
Project Delivery
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver them on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor progress against project schedules and highlight potential issues early.
- Support risk identification and mitigation activities.
- Resolve technical issues through design, installation and commissioning phases.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure engineering documentation is produced to a high standard.
- Follow established engineering processes, standards and best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities.
Stakeholder Support
- Provide technical support to internal teams.
- Participate in technical discussions with suppliers and customers when required.
- Support the production of customer documentation, including operation and maintenance manuals.
Skills & Experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (BEng or MEng).
- 2-5 years' experience in engineering design and development.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Ability to solve complex engineering problems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Technical Knowledge
- Experience using electrical design software such as:
- AutoCAD
- EPLAN
- Teamcenter
- Understanding of engineering standards, design methods and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and control technologies.
Desirable
- Experience in offshore, marine, subsea, lifting or bespoke engineered equipment.
- Membership of a recognised engineering institution (such as IET or equivalent), or working towards professional registration.
