We are recruiting an Electrical & Control Technician to join a Marine Engineering team supporting the maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of vessel electrical and automation systems.
The successful candidate will work on a wide range of electrical, control and automation projects while helping ensure equipment reliability, safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Control Systems & Automation
- Design and develop electrical control systems including PLC and SCADA applications.
- Produce functional design specifications.
- Support integration of electrical controls into wider engineering systems.
Testing & Maintenance
- Conduct testing, commissioning and fault diagnosis activities.
- Carry out routine maintenance and system backup procedures.
- Improve system reliability and minimise equipment downtime.
- Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical engineering standards and legislation.
- Produce technical reports, manuals and engineering documentation.
- Support project planning, delivery and handover activities.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Respond to electrical and control system faults.
- Provide technical support for maintenance and operational teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering operations.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
- Experience with PLC programming platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley or similar.
- Knowledge of SCADA and HMI systems.
- Experience with AC and DC motor drives.
- Strong understanding of electrical and control schematics.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols including Profibus, Profinet and TCP/IP.
