About the role

Electrical Engineer
South Tyneside
Salary up to £55k basic + benefits

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering bespoke low-voltage power distribution and switchgear solutions. Working across a variety of projects, you will be involved in design, project delivery, testing and commissioning while collaborating closely with manufacturing, installation and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

  • Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics for LV switchgear systems.
  • Produce functional design specifications for protection and control systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Prepare technical submissions, operating manuals and maintenance documentation. 

Project Delivery

  • Manage projects from design through to installation and commissioning.
  • Coordinate activities with clients, suppliers, contractors and internal teams.
  • Support and attend FAT and SAT testing activities.
  • Work within agreed project budgets and timescales.
  • Report project progress and identify potential risks or issues. 

Technical Support

  • Work closely with estimating teams to develop customer concepts into engineered solutions.
  • Provide technical support to sales, manufacturing and project teams.
  • Assist in delivering practical and cost-effective engineering solutions. 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with CAD packages such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP SEE Electrical or similar.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics and panel layouts.
  • Knowledge of BS7671 wiring regulations, BS EN 61439 and related IEC standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Right to work in the UK.
