We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, testing and commissioning of control systems used in power distribution, energy monitoring and switchgear applications. This role offers involvement across the full project lifecycle, from concept development through to commissioning and client handover.
Key Responsibilities
Control Systems Design
- Design, develop and commission control systems for LV switchgear and power management applications.
- Develop PLC, HMI and SCADA software solutions.
- Configure and integrate meters, relays, PLCs, HMIs, gateways and communication devices.
- Produce I/O schedules, control philosophies, network layouts and functional design documentation.
- Interpret electrical schematics and control wiring diagrams.
Integration & Testing
- Integrate systems using protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP and BACnet.
- Carry out software testing, FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot control system issues during design, manufacture and commissioning.
- Maintain software backups, records and revision control documentation.
Project & Client Support
- Work closely with electrical design, production and testing teams.
- Provide technical support to customers and site teams.
- Support commissioning, fault finding and project activities on customer sites when required.
Skills & Experience
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems or Automation Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience as a Controls Engineer, PLC Engineer, Automation Engineer or similar.
- Strong electrical knowledge, ideally within power distribution, switchgear, generators or industrial control systems.
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi or Codesys systems.
- Experience developing HMI and/or SCADA applications.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
