HGV Class 1 Day Driver – Hillington, Glasgow

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Day Driver to join our well-established client based in Hillington, Glasgow. You must be aged 25 or over for insurance purposes.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering £36,000 per annum, permanent work, and genuine opportunities for growth and progression.

This role is ideal for an experienced HGV Class 1 Day Driver looking for consistent day-shift work.

This position is ideal for applicants looking for a role as a LGV Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver, or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Rates of Pay:

• £36,000 per annum

Shift Pattern:

• Monday to Friday
• 08:00 – 18:00

Day-to-Day Duties:

As an HGV Class 1 Day Shift Driver, you will work:

• Completing deliveries and collections throughout Scotland
• Loading and unloading in line with the company code of practice and using appropriate equipment
• Maintaining the security of loads whilst loading, transporting, and delivering
• Complying with vehicle safety legislation, tachograph regulations, and the Working Time Directive
• Adhering to UK traffic laws and transport regulations
• Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
• Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements

Essential Skills:

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Day Shift Driver, you will need:

• A valid UK Category C+E Driving Licence (new passes accepted)
• A valid Driver CPC / DQC Card
• A valid Digital Tachograph Card
• A minimum of two years’ LGV driving experience and be over 25 years old due to underwritten insurance requirements
• Good knowledge of EU Regulations and the Working Time Directive
• Geographical knowledge of major UK roads
• Sound knowledge of the Highway Code and speed limits applicable to vehicle type and road type
• Good working knowledge of manual loading, unloading, and securing freight

The following are considered unacceptable:

• Drink or drug-related endorsements within the past 10 years
• Any driving disqualifications within the past five years
• Any licence codes beginning with IN, CD, DD, DR, or BA

Training:

• Ongoing industry-related training and support
