Mobile/Overhead Crane Operator – Barrow-in-FurnessLocation: Barrow-in-Furness – Site-basedHours: Full-time (Predominant shift pattern) Ready to lift your career?We’re looking for an experienced Mobile Crane Operator to join a long-term project with one of the UK’s leading defence manufacturers.If you’re a qualified crane operator who takes pride in safe, high-quality work and wants the opportunity to be part of nationally important engineering programmes, this could be your next move. What you’ll be doingAs a Mobile Crane Operator, you’ll be responsible for:
Safely lifting, moving and positioning loadsOperating mobile and overhead cranes in line with project requirementsWorking in confined spaces when requiredFollowing strict Health & Safety procedures and maintaining safe working practicesReading and interpreting job specificationsSelecting and preparing the correct materials, consumables and equipmentCarrying out cleaning and applying temporary protection where requiredInspecting completed work to ensure it meets the required standards
What we’re looking forYou’ll need:
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Crane OperatorValid, in-date certification from an accredited body, such as NPORS, ECITB or equivalentCertification covering Mobile & Overhead Crane operationsProven experience operating mobile cranesRelevant training and qualificationsA strong commitment to Health & SafetyFlexibility to work night shifts when required
Shifts & clearanceThe role will initially operate on a shift pattern, with flexibility required for nights.If moving onto night shifts, you’ll first complete one week on day shifts to allow for risk assessment.Due to the nature of the project, you must also be willing to obtain full SC clearance before starting. Clearance is expected to take approximately 6–8 weeks.Pre-employment and random drug testing may also be required. Why apply?
