About the role

Job Title: Gent Commissioning Engineer
Location: Durham
Duration: 1 week (with possible extension)
Rate: £375 per day

Are you a Gent Commissioning Engineer based in or able to travel to Durham looking for your next contract opportunity? As a Gent Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out commissioning works on fire alarm systems, working across commercial and industrial sites to ensure systems are fully operational, tested, and handed over in line with regulatory standards. You will be joining an established company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire and security solutions to its customers.

Responsibilities:

* Commission and configure Gent fire alarm systems, including panels such as the Gent 4000 and S-Quad, to design specifications and current regulatory standards.
* Perform functional testing, cause-and-effect validation, and system handover to ensure full compliance and operational readiness.
* Produce accurate commissioning reports, test sheets, and handover documentation in line with project and client requirements.
* Liaise with site management and project teams to coordinate works and ensure timely delivery.
* Identify and resolve commissioning-related faults and installation discrepancies to minimise delays and maintain programme.

Experience and Certifications required:

* Proven hands-on experience commissioning Gent fire alarm systems, including networked and panel-level configuration.
* Demonstrable knowledge of BS 5839-1 and commissioning documentation standards.
* Experience carrying out cause-and-effect testing and producing compliant handover documentation.
* Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently on site.
* Full UK driving licence and own transport.
* Valid ECS Card (Fire, Emergency and Security Systems – FESS) is essential; FIA training or equivalent fire alarm qualification (desirable).
