About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Gas Designer to play a key role in delivering high-quality design solutions across a range of utility infrastructure projects. You will be involved throughout the full design lifecycle, from initial site surveys through to producing detailed technical drawings, while developing your expertise alongside experienced engineers and project teams.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with gas design experience looking to work on complex, high-profile projects in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor industry best practices, recommend new design approaches, and identify emerging trendsDevelop high-quality design concepts, collaborating with internal stakeholders and incorporating feedbackSupport all design phases, including project setup, programming, detailed design, and CDM documentationRequest and review statutory plans (STAT plans)Provide technical support to the wider design teamCollaborate with internal teams, clients, and external consultants to deliver projectsLiaise with clients, third parties, and subcontractors to resolve design issuesProduce weekly design reports and present updates to senior stakeholdersConduct site visits and surveys to inform designs and produce as-laid drawingsAttend and lead pre-design and walk-off meetings with clientsEnsure full compliance with CDM 2015 regulationsMaintain and update Health & Safety files throughout the project lifecycleCreate detailed technical drawings, plans, and general arrangementsWork closely with project stakeholders to ensure designs are delivered on time and within budgetProvide support to site teams with design-related queries during constructionManage designs through relevant governance and approval processesTravel to sites across the UK as required for surveys, reviews, and project meetings

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Engineering qualification desirable, though relevant industry experience will be consideredExperience designing intermediate and high-pressure gas mainsBackground in delivering gas infrastructure design projectsStrong understanding of relevant engineering standards (e.g. IGEM)Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulationsProficiency in AutoCADCompetent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage workload across multiple projectsStrong team collaboration skills, with a willingness to support and mentor others
