About the role

Zest Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Burton upon Trent from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive school environment, providing assistance across both the school’s Reception class and SEND base. The role is full-time and offers a rewarding opportunity to support children at some of the most important stages of their educational development.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. Your time will be spent supporting children in Reception, as well as pupils within the school’s SEND provision, making this a varied and fulfilling role.

The school is looking for a nurturing, patient, and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting children with a range of learning needs and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within the Reception classroom.
  • Provide tailored support for pupils within the school’s SEND base.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Help pupils develop their communication, social, and emotional skills.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and the wider school team.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Have experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or support setting.
  • Have a good understanding of Early Years education and/or SEND support.
  • Be patient, caring, and committed to helping every child succeed.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be able to adapt their approach to meet a variety of learning needs.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
