An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident, skilled and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming, community‑focused primary setting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on supporting high‑quality teaching and learning, enjoys taking initiative, and is confident leading whole‑class learning when required.
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) you will work closely with teachers, support staff and senior leaders to deliver engaging learning experiences across the school. The role includes a blend of classroom support, small‑group interventions, and occasional whole‑class cover, ensuring continuity and consistency for pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Whole‑class cover — delivering pre‑planned lessons in the teacher’s absence
- Targeted interventions — supporting pupils in English, maths and wider curriculum areas
- SEND support — adapting learning for pupils with a range of additional needs
- Assessment support — monitoring progress and feeding back to class teachers
- Classroom organisation — preparing resources and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Pastoral care — promoting wellbeing, inclusion and positive behaviour
About You
You will be a proactive, nurturing and adaptable practitioner who brings energy and professionalism to every part of school life. The ideal candidate will have:
- HLTA status
- At least 3 months experience in a UK based Primary school
- Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
- Confidence delivering whole‑class learning
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD or speech and language needs
