About the role
Client: Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
Location: London Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21 4AH, United Kingdom
Work pattern: 2 days remote, 3 days in the office. Dates to be discussed with the line manager – 37 hours a week
PAYE Pay Rate: £26.24 per hour
Main Purpose
To provide expert health and safety advice across the Council, helping staff manage risks, comply with legislation and maintain safe working practices.
Typical Day
- Advise staff and managers on health and safety.
- Carry out workplace/site inspections.
- Review health and safety policies and procedures.
- Support health and safety training.
- Attend health and safety committees.
- Identify and assess workplace risks.
- Provide advice on legislation and best practice.
- Support managers with health and safety issues.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
- Strong health and safety knowledge.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret legislation.
- Confident advising people at all levels.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and professionally.
Essential Qualifications
- Qualified Health & Safety practitioner.
- Member of IOSH.
