About the role

Job summary

The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the lifecycle management of the UKHSA’s Infrastructure service of ~2500 cores, ~10 PTB of storage, fabric, backup service, and physical Edge Data Centres. This is a hands on technical (~60%) and managerial (~40%) role, working as both lead engineer and department manager ensuring service availability, functionality, performance and security alignment to organisational priorities.

This role reports to the Head of Network and Infrastructure and operates under a hybrid working model based at one of, and requiring regular travel to, Porton, Colindale and Chilton, as well as other corporate sites, corporate events, and industry events as required.

Job description

Managing a team to ensure delivery of

  • Lifecycle management of Infrastructure (hypervisor, hosts, and fabric)
  • Lifecycle management of multi-vendor hybrid storage (on prem & cloud)
  • Lifecycle management of Backup & Restore Service

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and develop a specialist team

You will be accountable for lifecycle management, performance, availability and security of all technologies making up the Infrastructure service as listed above, using the specific OEM’s in the Essential and Desirable role criteria listed below. You will lead delivery of new releases and capabilities into service. You will manage a multi-discipline engineering team accordingly.

You will be invited to a single remote interview.
