About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager, or an ambitious Deputy Registered Manager ready to take the next step, to lead supported accommodation and care leaver services across the Bristol and Winchester areas.

The services support young people aged 16+ and care leavers as they transition towards greater independence, including young people who have experienced complex trauma.

The successful candidate will provide strong operational leadership while creating a safe, warm and structured environment where young people can develop their independence, confidence and life skills.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Compliance

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and quality of the service.
  • Ensure the service operates in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements, statutory guidance and Quality Standards.
  • Maintain high standards of care, support and professional practice.
  • Ensure policies, procedures and documentation remain up to date and compliant.

Therapeutic & Person-Centred Support

  • Promote a trauma-informed approach to supporting young people.
  • Embed therapeutic principles, including PACE and DDP approaches, into everyday practice.
  • Ensure individual care and support plans are developed, implemented and regularly reviewed.
  • Support young people to develop independence and achieve positive outcomes as they transition towards adulthood.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing staff team.
  • Recruit, supervise and appraise staff effectively.
  • Promote a positive and supportive working culture.
  • Identify training and development needs and encourage continuous professional development.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and minimise reliance on agency workers.

Safeguarding & Quality

  • Take responsibility for safeguarding across the service.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
  • Maintain robust risk assessments, care plans and safeguarding procedures.
  • Carry out quality monitoring and audits to drive continuous improvement.

Partnership Working

  • Develop strong professional relationships with local authorities, commissioning teams, social workers, Personal Advisors and other relevant professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies to ensure young people receive appropriate support.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families and other key stakeholders where appropriate.

Operations & Budget Management

  • Manage service budgets and resources effectively.
  • Oversee staffing rotas and operational requirements.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Monitor service performance and implement improvements where necessary.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in residential childcare or 16+ supported accommodation.
  • At least one to two years’ experience in a leadership or Deputy Manager capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, Quality Standards and legislation relating to care leavers.
  • Proven experience of team leadership, workforce development and safeguarding.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Bristol and Winchester areas.
  • Full right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with PACE or DDP therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience managing supported accommodation or services for care leavers.
  • Experience using care management systems.
